Drum sets
When we think of rock 'n roll we invariably think of giant
drum sets. We picture the crazed 70s drummer providing power to the
band as well as a steady drumbeat. However, drum sets are used in a
variety of settings.
Smaller drum sets are part of every jazz band. Gene Krupa made his
drum solos famous during the big band era. Drum sets can also be used
to provide colors and textures in small intimate jazz trios.
Drum sets can even be used in classical music. Electronic drum sets
produce a variety of different sounds and are employed by modern composers.
Drum sets can be found in percussion ensembles featured in modern orchestral
concertos.
