Guitars
Guitars are used in many genres of music. They are played
in country, rock 'n roll, the blues, and pop music. Guitars can also
be played as solo classical instruments.
Guitars usually have six strings, but there are also guitars with four,
seven, eight, 10, and 12 strings. Acoustic guitars are used most often
in classical settings-though they are popular for folk music as well-
and produce a tone with the vibration of strains. Electric guitars require
amplification to produce sound.
Guitars can cost between hundreds and thousands of dollars. Popular
guitars include Gibson and Les Paul. In fact, many musicians including
Carlos Santana actually collect guitars that have been played by famous
bands and musicians and have a distinct sound or tone.
